Many have misused Romans 10:9,10 to exclude the necessity of repentance (turning from sin) for eternal life. Here is a Bible nugget on Rom. 10:9,10:
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (Rom 10:9, 10)
If you confess the name of the Lord, which is what Romans 10:9,10 includes, then 2 Tim. 2:19 applies:
Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” (2 Tim 2:19)
The latter part of 2 Tim. 2:19 is the key to properly understanding Romans 10:9,10. Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness. That is the same thing as repentance. So, Romans 10:9,10 does include repentance, unlike what some antinomians and free grace proponents say!
