The Teaching Of Christ

It is so spiritually dark that some people who profess to be Christians, have actually discounted the teaching of Christ, written in the four gospels, yet claim to follow him! In other words, some who profess to be Christians dismiss the teachings of the founder of Christianity! Shocking, but true! teaching of ChristThey also don’t exalt (or even downplay) the teachings of Christ spoken to the seven churches in Asia found in Revelation 2 and 3. How any professing Christian could be deceived to that degree is a mystery to me! The same people who disregard the wonderful words of life spoken by the Lord Jesus, all accept the Pauline epistles. But to exalt the Pauline epistles is actually counterproductive for them because Paul stressed Jesus’ teachings! He taught Christians to let the word of Christ dwell in them richlyas a basis for:

  • their teachings
  • their admonishing one another
  • their songs

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. (Col 3:16)

Hence, the Holy Spirit-inspired Pauline epistles make the teaching of Christ, as found in the four gospels and before the cross, an important priority for the whole of the Christian life! The Apostle John also magnified the teaching of Christ to the ultimate:

Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work. (2 John 1:9-11)

I have also noticed that people who reject the teaching of Christ only reject most of them, but not all, even though they all were spoken before the cross! They inconsistently cling to John 3:5, John 3:16, John 10:28 and any other verse they can misuse for support of their beliefs! Why do they reject the rest of the teaching of Christ? Perhaps it’s because Jesus taught so contrary to what people in our day want to believe! Jesus’ teachings:

The Lord Jesus also magnified his own teachings:

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (Mat 24:35)

To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31,32)

Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.” (John 14:23,24)

For religious people to de-emphasize the four gospels as before the cross is to reveal their general ignorance of Scripture. Don’t let anyone deceive you about this. Jesus has the words of eternal life (John 6:68). Do YOU know Jesus?

How NOT To Study The Bible

Because I was wearing one of my Bible shirts, I had a witnessing encounter with a professing Christian, which might never have occurred otherwise. It turned out that the man was cleaving tightly to various heretical concepts, even after reading the Bible for 40 years! How could such a horrible thing be possible? It commonly happens, especially in the cults, because people approach the Bible with preconceived ideas of what it teaches since that is how they were taught! blind to the truthSuch people then read over the very verses, which should help them get freed from their false doctrines, yet they remain blinded to the truth. The verses seem to be invisible for they make no impact on their poisonous religious beliefs. The man I dialogued with is an example of this and a mouthpiece for the devil! That man was wrong about:

Those are all very important key issues related to salvation, and which many Scriptures address, yet he seemed unmoved by the Biblical answers given. He was too dedicated to defending the very concepts that are dragging him to hell by misusing Scripture in various ways. The truths I gave him seemed to bounce off him like truth tends to bounce off a closed Jehovah’s Witness or Mormon missionary! Why? Because of his preconceived ideas of what the Bible teaches!

Please know that there are various wrong ways to study the Bible and a common one is to approach it thinking you already know what it says WITHOUT EXAMINING ALL RELATED SCRIPTURES. That was part of his problem! Just like many other false teachers in our day, he was using what he thought were support passages for an allowance of sin which leads to death (see 1 Cor. 6:9,10; Eph. 5:5-7; Rev. 21:8; etc.), with salvation too. That is a good way to describe what the once saved always saved teachers do, that is, they declare a deadly salvation-security-in-sin-false-gospel. Among other things the man stated:

  • We can disown Jesus, but he won’t disown us
  • King David remained saved in his adultery and murder
  • A Christian’s righteousness is like filthy rags

I told him Jesus stated if we disown him, Jesus will disown us (Mt. 10:33) and Paul repeated that same salvation related truth (2 Tim. 2:12), but his faulty indoctrination (and sin) kept him blind! When I mentioned King David backslid and lost his salvation, he answered that, he was a man after God’s own heart! He didn’t know that meant that David would lead Israel in the truths of God and not promote idolatry, like other kings did. He was using that defense argument by unwittingly suggesting that God’s heart was adulterous and murderous, like David’s was when he was a backslider. The acid test question to smoke out a license for immorality would have worked great, if his true identity hadn’t already been revealed. When he brought up the filthy rags argument from Isa. 64:6, he ignored the immediate context that it referred to Israel when backslidden into continuous sin:

You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved? (Isa 64:5)

His mind was made up and he wasn’t going to repent of his sin or be influenced by the truth. He seemed to be ruined and beyond repair! How he ever initially got that way is unknown to me, but without a doubt he was wrongly studying the Bible, that is, with a preconceived idea of what it says rather than accepting what is in the verse/s. Dear read, TAKE WARNING! If you have been doing this, stop immediately for your own SOUL’S sake.

Confused About Jesus

[Bible Comments]…The only time Jesus became eternal was when the Father resurrected Him to eternal life from death after the crucifixion. Jesus was very much a human man and still is even tho He sits at His Father’s right hand doing the Father’s business and awaiting to return to the earth to govern it until the new earth and new heaven is and the Father is with us also and Jesus hands over the reigns to His Father and His God. Jesus could not be eternal, as He could not die, nor is He god as many churches teach, in my eyes that is a disgrace and should never be allowed to be taught. Nor could God empty Himself and come down, God could not empty Himself of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is the Father’s power and not a person as many stupid churches teach.

[Bible Answer] Greetings in Jesus’ name. You write like you have been spiritually influenced by the Jehovah’s Witnesses to some degree. That is NOT good, since they were founded by a false prophet (Charles Taze Russell) and their doctrines are very unscriptural and DANGEROUS. You also seem to have had another influence from some unknown source to me, who has also misinformed you about the Lord Jesus.

Please know, Jesus is NOT created. He is “from everlasting” (Micah 5:2) as well as eternal life (1 John 1:2). Hence, he could not be created. What may be throwing you off are the references to Jesus’ humanity. As a man, Jesus prayed to the Father. As a man, Jesus didn’t know when he would be returning to earth before his death. As a man, Jesus bled and died for us. Jesus is 100% man, but that doesn’t negate the fact that he is also deity! By that I’m NOT saying he is the Father, for he isn’t. Jesus is a separate person from the Father, yet he is God by nature too.

QUESTION for you: Are YOU worshiping the one, who has ALL authority (power) in heaven?

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” (Mat 28:18)

I worship my precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (as his apostles did) for various reasons, including the fact that he has ALL AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN (Mt. 28:18). I can tell from your email, that is NOT the Lord Jesus you know about. Hence, there are significant problems in your theology, but you don’t seem open enough to consider them. I hope I’m wrong about that! Here’s another question for you: Have YOU asked Jesus for living water:

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:10)

The reason many can’t is because:

  • they don’t know the gift of God and
  • they don’t know who Jesus is

Hence, if you are like them, you don’t have the living water which could be yours! Here is more precious information about how to get eternal life. Remember John 5:39,40.

I Need God

[Bible Questions] …Those who have falsely believed the lies and have sinned MUCH even after accepting Jesus and THEN NOW UNDERSTAND that they are wrong and probably lost unless God forgives them…is there any hope please? I thought we could just ask forgiveness from God and He would forgive all our sins ..so now I see I`m in a very bad shape, but I want God’s forgiveness and am willing to live truly right and walk blameless before Him IF He would forgive me. Please is there any hope. My sins were horrible and many. I`m so ashamed of them and I need God. Please get back with me, I need help. Thank you.

[Bible Answers] Greetings in Jesus’ name. YESYESYES, there is hope for you and others who are backsliders IF you do as the prodigal did after he came to his senses (Luke 15:17)! The primary teaching which shows you can return to God and salvation is the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32). When he turned from his wickedness (repented) to return to the Father to SERVE him, the Father said in Luke 15:24:

“For this son of mine was dead and is ALIVE AGAIN; he was lost and is found.” So they began to celebrate.

In other words, the Prodigal got saved again from being a backslider and his spiritually dead and lost condition of wild living and being with the prostitutes, but it took repentance (turning from sin) and returning to God to SERVE him. He got forgiven though his sins were horrible and many (like yours)! That is what you must also do to become ALIVE AGAIN like him. God is no respecter of persons and will treat you the same way, if you meet his conditions. NOTE: The Prodigal didn’t just ask for forgiveness, as you previously thought would suffice! Jesus never taught such as being the way he got forgiven.

It seems the concept of the Christian life you were taught is far from Biblical reality, which seems to be common in our dark day. There are many spiritual wolves.spiritual sheep
Are you aware of the requirements for eternal life and what a real Christian (sheep) is? New Christians should be especially taught certain truths.

Your life is a spiritual test. What you do with JESUS will decide where you go after your inescapable death. Most will be lost. Hence, if you live like the majority, you know you too will be thrown into eternal fire with them. To enter God’s paradise kingdom you must have a pure heart (Mt. 5:8) and there is no fooling God about that or anything else! Remember 1 Cor. 6:9-11. GOD BLESS YOU.

Requirements For Eternal Life

This will be a strange teaching for many in our day, because there are so many false teachers, who are wrongly teaching about this issue! The primary passage here to be focused in upon is Luke 9:23, but to better understand the meaning of that verse, the next two verses are also cited:take up your cross

Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit his very self?” (Luke 9:23-25)

The Lord Jesus (and his apostles) spoke the same salvation truth in different ways throughout his teachings. For example, it is found in John 3:16 conveyed in the meaning and present tense form of believe, the necessity to be born again (in John 3:3,5,7) for initial salvation, which begins a brand new life, etc. In Luke 9:23 he taught if we would come after eternal life (Jesus is eternal life in 1 John 1:2), then we must:

  • deny ourselves
  • take up our cross daily and
  • follow Jesus

Clearly Luke 9:24,25 show those are requirements for eternal life and nothing less! So Luke 9:23 is one of the many salvation teachings given by the Lord Jesus. Let’s take a closer look at his requirements.

Must Deny Himself

To deny ourselves to get eternal life, in part, means to crucify the flesh:

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. (Gal 5:24)

That means one will have to repent (turn from evil) to get eternal life in the first place. To deny ourselves also means that we will put God’s will before ours. We must put his word into practice (Luke 8:21). God becomes primary and we take a lesser role. This affects our ambitions, goals and priorities.

Must Take Up His Cross Daily

Back in Jesus’ day, when someone took up his cross he was carrying it to his own execution, as happened with Jesus himself at Calvary. In other words, to go after Jesus and eternal life could be deadly (and was for many over the centuries). We must be willing to die physically, if necessary, to have Jesus! If we disown him, he will disown us (Mt. 10:33; 2 Tim. 2:12). We are to do this daily!

Must Follow Jesus

To follow Jesus means that he is our focus. He is the one we are looking to and obeying over all others. He is the object of our faith and trust for salvation. Jesus described his sheep (the Christians) in John 10:27 as:

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

The next verse (John 10:28) explicitly shows again that following Jesus (continuous tense) is necessary for eternal life. That passage is, unfortunately, often cited as support for the heresy of once saved always saved and twisted to even include backsliders, who are NOT following Jesus anymore! Hence, Luke 9:23 is a salvation teaching, which proves we are going to have to pay a serious price to have Jesus as our own personal Lord and Savior and with him eternal life. Eternal life is also a hope (Titus 3:7) yet to be given in the future, but ONLY for those described in Gal. 6:8,9 (which also supplements Luke 9:23):

The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Gal 6:8,9)

Please know, though these requirements for eternal life are costly, it is well worth it! To truly have Jesus is to have the GREATEST and MOST IMPORTANT thing you could ever have in this life. He is the bread of life, the hidden treasure and pearl of great price, etc. It’s an all or nothing deal with God for immortality. If you have Jesus, you have God and a glorious-beyond-description-paradise-future beyond the inescapable grave. If you don’t have Jesus, you have eternal conscious torment awaiting you beyond the inescapable grave. Again, to have eternal life is worth any price, though the price is great! As Jesus taught:

What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? (Mark 8:36)

Do you know Jesus?

The Lie of Immortality Without Jesus

It is too bad so many people are so easily swayed by so-called scholars, experts and scientists to believe a certain way, especially when their message sometimes contradicts the proven word of God (the Bible). This is a common practice with the lie of evolution being taught as fact, but it doesn’t stop there! One world-renowned scientist, Ray Kurzweil, believes scientific advancements will let us live forever, but without Jesus. In July 2012, he was quoted as saying:Ray Kurzweil

“I and many other scientists now believe that in around 20 years we will have the means to reprogramme our bodies’ stone-age software so we can halt, then reverse, aging,” he writes in The Sun. “Then nanotechnology will let us live for ever. Ultimately, nanobots will replace blood cells and do their work thousands of times more effectively.”

Of course, to teach that way one must ignore the infallible word of God. Sadly, Ray Kurzweil is a type of false teacher, but not readily recognized as one because he is a scientist. We will all die one day, including Ray Kurzweil:

Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. (Heb 9:27,28)

Physical death is imminent, but the grave is not the end. Afterwards will come your judgment before the Lord Jesus (2 Tim. 4:1). While that is spiritual reality, Ray Kurzweil is focused merely on this temporal cursed life. He replaces the Lord Jesus and what he has done at the cross for us with scientific advancements. To him, it’s all about science, and genetic reprogramming.

Immortality Does Exist NOW

You can have immortality and live forever WITHOUT future scientific advancements, but you must do it God’s way. His way points us to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is eternal life (1 John 1:2). We must have a submissive faith in him, which persists in doing good. Here are the facts:

In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality. (Prov 12:28)

To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. (Rom 2:7)

But it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. (2 Tim 1:10)

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. (1 John 2:17)

This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever. (John 6:58)

It seems that almost everything is contested in our day. Ray Kurzweil has done that with immortality, but that doesn’t mean he is right! He isn’t. When it comes to the spiritual, one shining and proven source outweighs everything else–the Bible. The Bible is the final word on any issue it mentions, and that includes immortality.

BTW, the wicked, who are not doing the will of God, will not see immortality, but that doesn’t mean they will be annihilated, for they won’t be. To have Jesus and be in God’s presence is LIFE. To be separated from God is to be spiritually LOST and DEAD. In the end the wicked will be separated from God and life eternal and be in the lake of fire (the second death). Hence, they won’t have immortality, but will be conscious and in torment in the same lake of fire with the devil and his angels forever and ever (Rev. 20:10 cf. 20:15). The unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor. 6:9,10).

Seal Of The Holy Spirit

[Bible Question related to the seal of the Holy Spirit] …As I look at the Israelites entering the promise land, they failed to drive out all the inhabitants which led to them falling away. I see this as a warning for believers today, that it is possible for us to forget the Lord and to be destroyed by God. However, I wrestle with Ephesians 1:14 where Paul writes about the Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance. Is it possible for us to lose the Holy Spirit?…I would welcome your thoughts on this. Thanks for your faithfulness to the Word of God!

Seal Of The Holy Spirit Explained

[Bible Answer] I am very glad you found us. Our security in Christ is vital to know about, yet very few seem to adequately understand it, even those who rightly reject eternal security! When you stated that it is possible for believers to forget the Lord and be destroyed by him, you are right. The concept of spiritual death (and a warning about it) can be found from Gen. 2:17 through the end of Revelation! If a righteous man turns to evil, as King David did when he turned to adultery and murder, he will die spiritually for it (Ezek. 33:18; etc.). David lost his salvation, but got it back again when he repented like the prodigal son (Luke 15:24). Hence, we must resist the devil and his temptations. This is very serious for we must endure to the end to be saved (Mt. 10:22; Heb. 3:14; Rev. 2:10,11). So how does that fit in with the seal of the Holy Spirit and the guarantee you asked about?

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession–to the praise of his glory. (Eph 1:13,14)

The Holy Spirit himself, who is resident within the followers of Jesus, is both the seal and the deposit. He is the deposit (the Holy Spirit who guarantees). It is important to know that the Holy Spirit can depart, as happened with Saul:

Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him. (1 Sam 16:14)

The same possible tragedy is implied in the New Testament:

But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast. (Heb 3:6)

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. (1 Cor 3:17, NKJV)

In the Bible, a seal from a king was placed on a document showing it was authentic and wasn’t tampered with.seal of the holy spirit It could be BROKEN! So don’t let the once saved always saved teachers distort the meaning to teach their doctrine.

If we don’t remain God’s house (because we didn’t HOLD ON to our courage and hope) and get destroyed by him (because we defiled our temple), we will join the majority in eternal torment where their worm dies not! Please know, if you are led by the flesh (or sinful nature), you are NOT a child of God and do not have the Spirit of God:

Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. (Rom 8:8,9)

Paul Who Wrote About The Seal Also Wrote

BTW, four chapters past Eph. 1:14 (and beyond Paul stating we are saved by grace at 2:8,9) is Eph. 5:5-7. Clearly, it violently contradicts the eternal security understanding of the seal of the Holy Spirit and grace. Again, it doesn’t support once saved always saved, because that doctrine is of the devil:

For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person–such a man is an idolater–has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them. (Eph 5:5-7)

[There is no hint in Eph. 5:5-7 that the seal of the Holy Spirit will prevent the disinheritance of the kingdom of Christ and of God for a Christian for those who turn to immorality, impurity or greed.  Just the opposite is stated. Hence, do NOT allow an eternal security teacher “read into” the Holy Spirit seal of redemption something which is not there.]

God’s Seal of Approval

Please consider reading our NO eternal security book, “The Believer’s Conditional Security.” It thoroughly addresses all the related issues dealing with once saved always saved (OSAS). [It is the most complete volume ever written refuting eternal security.] Here are some Bible questions related to eternal security and eternal life, which should further help you with this issue. Remember, if you disown Jesus, he will disown you (Mt. 10:33; 2 Tim. 2:12). Remember, there is absolutely NO security in sin.

God’s Discipline and Eternal Life

[Comment] …The Scriptures I take solace in, however, are the ones in which Our Lord says He will DISCIPLINE those He loves. He IS long suffering…but I find in my fallen nature I am not. He knows what must be done to make them ready. christian in God's handThey may not like the disciplines, but He promised that NO ONE can take His children from His hand. I have loved ones who know about the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ…and trust Him to be their Savior…yet they live their lives as if they never heard of Him. This is heartbreaking to watch. When God disciplines us it is a perfect work, achieving the desires of His heart…and that is to bring the prodigal home. Where we must be on guard at this juncture is to not have the heart of the prodigal’s brother who looked more to his own works instead of looking into the heart of the father. As far as the Father’s heart is concerned, could any of us fully understand the depth of His love for His Creation? Well, we have eternity in which to try! In Christ,

[Bible Answer] Greetings in Jesus’ name. There is NO eternal security. The wonderful promise in John 10:28, 29 ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE WHO CONTINUOUSLY FOLLOW JESUS! It does NOT refer to the backslider!

Spiritual death for the righteous, who turn to evil, is a frequent and foundational Bible teaching.  To believe that God’s discipline (or anything else) will prevent that is to be dangerously deceived. God’s will is NOT always accomplished. God doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Pet. 3:9), yet MOST will (Mt. 7:13,14). Hence, even though he is almighty, man has free will to DISOBEY AND SIN, against God’s will. If you disown Jesus, he will disown you (Mt. 10:33; 2 Tim. 2:12). That can happen very fast and God’s discipline (keeping power, etc.) will NOT stop it! Do NOT be deceived.

[Remember, Jesus taught it is the heavenly Father who will cut off the fruitless Christians from the life-sustaining Vine (Christ) and have them thrown into the FIRE (John 15:1-8). Your reasonings from the natural to the spiritual deny that about the loving heavenly Father! Furthermore, Paul taught the Roman Christians, saved by grace (who had the heavenly Father as their spiritual father) that God will NOT spare you either! As God cut off Israel, he will cut off the Christian too for unbelief (Rom. 11:19-23)! Christians are to BE AFRAID, which you aren’t because you misunderstand God’s love, God’s discipline, etc.! Your once saved always saved doctrine doesn’t allow for those salvation-related truth and endangers your priceless SOUL.]

**MUCH more related salvation truth is found in our NO eternal security book, “The Believer’s Conditional Security.” The price is discounted NOW, if you are interested. There is also MUCH info on our main NO eternal security page. Remember Heb. 3:14. GOD BLESS YOU.

Another KJV Glaring ERROR

It should be common knowledge by now that the King James Version of the Bible is not understandable. How such readers can ignore this pinnacle issue and continue with it remains a mystery to me. Have some gone even further and closed their eyes to glaring translation problems? kjv bibleThere is definite evidence to suggest such! For the ones who have made it from cover to cover, some very outlandish KJV translations will surface! In fact, one KJV error, especially, is a shocking (even blasphemous) attack on the holiness and purity of Almighty God! It is found in the OT book detailing Jonah in the fish. To be more precise it is Jonah 3:10:

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. (KJV)

God Repented Of The Evil

As much as the stubborn KJV defenders try to minimize that glaring KJV translation error, it remains a blow to God’s character the way it literally reads! The reading God repented of evil is reprehensible! That, of course, is NOT the way it should be translated and is NOT how it should be understood! That is why reputable translations render, the same phrase in question, much differently and in a way which doesn’t strike against God’s holy and pure character:

When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it. (NASB)

When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it. (ESV)

When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened. (NIV)

Does God Repent

To read in the KJV that God repented of evil once is sickening and confusing enough, but to read it two other times is even worse:

Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? (Jonah 3:9, KJV)

And he prayed unto the LORD, and said, I pray thee, O LORD, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil. (Jonah 4:2, KJV)

Especially since the literacy rate in our day has decreased and learning the message of the Bible from reading it first hand is so vital, the KJV remains a serious stumbling block and snare to one’s spiritual comprehension, especially for a new Christian. It was a major personal blessing for me to break away from the King James version of the Bible to read other reputable translations. My spiritual understanding skyrocketed. Dear reader, the same is true for YOU! Don’t go with the KJV only flow. You MUST be able to understand the Bible, without the many different types of hindrances found within the KJV, including the God repented of the evil ones! This is too important. God bless you.

Catholics Don’t Worship Mary

[Catholic Comment] I came across your article on Mormonism and the challenge to pray about the book of Mormon. Thank you for it. It was instructive and helpful in all but one critical respect. You target Catholics in your analysis, implying that they worship Mary and have an incorrect understanding of the true presence in the Eucharist. I want to clarify, in case others have not. As Catholics, we do not worship Mary or statues.eucharist We venerate Mary in the same way Elizabeth did in the gospels: “hail Mary, full of grace” “the Lord is with thee.” “blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.” And regarding the Eucharist, have you read early church fathers? They are clear in their belief in the Eucharist. Thank you! And thanks again for your insights into Mormonism.

[Bible Answer] Greetings in Jesus’ name. Thanks for the compliment about the article on praying about the Book of Mormon. It seems you have somehow overlooked what it says about Catholics bowing before a Mary statue or reciting the rosary. There can be no question that both are common in Catholic circles, yet each is antithetical to God’s word. To bow before any graven image is forbidden in Ex. 20:4-6:

You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

To bow before a graven image is what people do who hate God! Did you know the Baltimore Catechism removed that command from their 10 Commandments taught to Catholic children? WHY do you think they did that?

Praying the rosary is one of the many Catholic distinctives and it began around 1090 AD. It is also in clear violation to Jesus’ commandment on prayer:

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Mat 6:6-8)

Catholics violate that command, as they keep on babbling like pagans. With regard to the Eucharist, it stands or falls on the Catholic claim that it was transubstantiated by the priest. The Bible has a very clear genuine transubstantiation mentioned in John 2, where Jesus changed the water into wine. After the transubstantiation, the water changed into wine TASTED like wine:

And the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.” (John 2:9,10)

You should know that Catholics view their Mary much different than Elizabeth viewed Mary. Such is explicitly revealed in the Catholic Hail Holy Queen prayer:

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve! To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!”

Mary is NOT Queen of heaven. She is NOT our mother. She is NOT our life, sweetness or hope. She is NOT the most gracious advocate and neither is she a virgin anymore. Catholicism has another Mary, NOT the one described in the Bible—the mother of Jesus! More of the same is shown by Catholicism endorsing the Fatima Marian visions and through their popular Immaculate Mary praise song to her! You can’t justly deny any of that.

If Catholicism had a real transubstantiation, it would taste like flesh and blood, which it doesn’t! Did you know Catholics WORSHIP THE COMMUNION WAFER? That is their bold official doctrine about the Eucharist, yet it is blatant idolatry. Do you know what Rev. 21:8 says about idolaters?

To appeal to the early church fathers is a violation of the 2 Tim. 3:16,17 passage which states the Christian is fully equipped for every good work with the Scriptures alone! Besides, the so-called church fathers contradicted each other and are often quoted by various cults! Did you know that?

You might know that I’m a former Roman Catholic, who wanted to stay a Catholic, but was surprised by the truth I found in the Catholic Bible. If interested, you can watch my short video testimony here. The Biblical plan of salvation is safe and effective. You can NOT be hurt or go wrong by going by it, but to continue to trust in the sacraments, Mary and being a Catholic will end in disaster, though you may be very sincere! Do NOT be deceived.
